My very own computer

So, today I set up my very own computer, in my very own apartment. Needless to say all my avid readers can expect a lot more posts from me in the near future. Woot Woot!

Snow!

It snowed this morning, or last night I guess. Anyway, I was walking to the library and had a sudden urge to throw myself into the white wet stuff and make a snow angel. I'm still a little kid at heart and I'm kind of regretting the fact that I didn't make a snow angel. I have a feeling it'll happen before the day is done, that or I'll slip and fall and pretend that I thrust myself in the snow with every intention of making a snow angel, when really I just biffed it. Either way, happy snow!

Go make a snow angel :)

Walking Backwards

I have had this thought more than once when walking by myself.

Have you ever been walking so slow that you feel you're going backwards? Like instead of putting one foot in front of the other, somehow one foot is going behind and perpetually you are getting no where fast? This happens to me when I don't have a specific place I'm going, or if I'm hoping someone will catch up with me. Its an odd sensation to think that it feels like you are moving backwards instead of forward.

This was just something I've thought about. Nothing earth shattering, and perhaps just some food for thought :)

Things I've learned from College: A series of comments

11. Some professors are exceptionally good :) Even if you don't like the subject they teach.

12. The week before finals week has a taste. Its not a really good taste either.

13. Understanding Psychology is helpful in everyday life.

14. Stressing out is overrated. Don't worry, be happy now.

15. Fresh vegitables are good. Gegitables are better.

Blogging- Kirena Style

So, I also haven't written for a while and feel the need to esplode a little, so I'm taking a leaf out of Kirena's book and writing a lot :)

Thanksgiving is the best when you make enough food for everyone +15. This means leftovers for the poor college student that will feed her for at least two weeks. Thank you Mother Dearest, I love you so! Thanksgiving is also great in that you can eat till you feel like your ribs are going to break because there is so much inside you. A feeling that I don't think I've felt since last Thanksgiving- oh the joys of college. Thanksgiving is great because afterwards you get to play Scrabble and have a Thanksgiving hang over. And last but not least, Thanksgiving is great because you (or I) get to watch my 5 and a half month old nephew scarf down a poached pear and scream at his mother when she stops feeding him. Poor Lisa had to give up a good portion of her soft foods to baby Lucas, but it was totally worth it, at least I think it was- Lisa might disagree :).

For a synopsis of the rest of the weekend I think I'll write a list of a few of my new favorite things:

Snails and how they see the benefits, the beauty in every inch (aka Format)
Marc's Truck and its amazing ability to swim
Meeting new people
Awkwardness
So much stars
Blakes
Brunnin'
Delicate Arch
Sunsets
Baby Lions Back
Cars that start with P
Jack
Breakfast for dinner
Being not not outdoorsy
Playing, Talking, Giggling
Moab
Four Wheeling in Marc's Truck after it goes swimming
Hobo Dinners
Onions
Chocolate Milk
Jimmy Eater of the World
What?

Oh and insert 'Nathan Bagley' on the top, somewhere in the middle, and the bottom of this list.

So this isn't that much, but I still think blogging is good Kirena Style :)

Tolerance?

This might be a bit of a delayed reaction, but oh well. Today I was reading an article that my dad sent me. It was an article written by an LDS Los Angeles Police Department detective supervisor in response to Proposition 8 and everything that followed its passing. I couldn't help but notice how many times this man used the word 'tolerance' in regards to those against Proposition 8, and mostly how we hope for just that- tolerance of our deep rooted beliefs.

My junior year of high school in my english class we had a discussion about people in general and tolerance of others and their beliefs. My teacher, a Ms. Margaret Pratt said something that I will never forget. She said: "I hate the word 'tolerate'. We tolerate flies, not human beings. Stretch yourselves out a bit and try for something more than 'tolerant'."

I could not agree more. So lets stretch ourselves today and try for something more than just 'tolerance'. Maybe compassion? Perhaps even love.

Phone Blogging?

So I've decided that I write a lot of stuff on my phone. If I need to remember something I'll just write it in a text and save it. Sometime last week I was on my way to the bus stop and I saw three blind students walking together and one had his arm linked with another. I thought that was interesting. A blind man leading another blind man. After this I whipped out my phone, some kind of inspiration had hit.

Before I continue this story I have to say this; I am kind of a word nazi. I enjoy finding just that right word, and I am bugged to the max when the word is on the tip of my tongue and it won't come to me.

So I pull out my phone and start texting out some random thoughts I had. It started out as just a regular type paragraph, but then somehow it mutated into stanzas. I would think that I was done with it, but then I would find something better, so I would re-text it out. I think by the time I was done I had 10 texts in my 'drafts' folder. The end result you ask? A poem. Nothing significant because my name is not Robert Frost, but a poem all the same. I guess a blind man leading a blind man is an inspiring thing to witness.

Here's to you

Here I sit.
There I go.
And I wait
Should I know?
Which way to take
Which path will show?

Because here I sit
And where I go
Won't always be
A path I know.

So to you
Who'll wait for me
Those who'll give
Me room to grow
Here's to you.

Cause there I go.

Twilight

So, I saw this movie today. I had to wait eight and a half hours to write about it otherwise this post would have been about four pages long. Now you must be thinking at this point "Oh barf, another gushing teen ready to throw herself at Edwards feet". Well, if you made that assumption you are wrong. I had to wait eight and a half hours so I would not use extremely harsh verbiage.

I cannot honestly come to terms with the fact that I wasted two hours of my life watching this movie, not to mention five dollars and fifty cents that it cost to sit through this. The only way I've come up with to describe this in the most non-offensive way is to say that it was a two hour long commercial. I say this because you know how commercials are just the highlights of a movie, really action-packed and attention grabbing, almost to the point that they go over the top? Welcome to Twilight. I felt like the announcer guy should have been in the background the entire time saying cliche phrases in his overly masculine voice over and over again.

That's all I'll say. I won't say anything about the acting or the actors themselves. This would never end and I'd have to come up with so many different synonyms for the word 'ridiculous', it would be next to impossible.

Yes Please

So I dunno if the world and I have come to terms about how it has been treating me lately. Mostly I think the world wants me to think that we've come to an agreement, when really it's just waiting to pull something else. (Which if you think about it probably sounds kind of paranoid, but thats what happens when the world isn't happy with you). I feel like either the sun is going to burst from the clouds, or the clouds are going to eat me. Yesterday the world allowed a few rays of sunlight, and today a few more, but I don't want to tempt the world by hoping for the former. For now I want to make a list of the rays of light (yes, I am being cliche- get off my back). These rays of light would be (in no particular order):

good music
time to think (even if it is in your Ecology class when you should be taking notes)
writing
good movies
good foreign movies about music
alone time
friends
food (even if its not the greatest)
people who genuinely care
the library
procrastinating homework
taking a nap
sharing
someone holding the door open for you
saying thank you when someone holds the door open for you
talking
writing (I know it's on there twice)
reading

This looks like a good list. Now I'ma just waiting for the sun. Hopefully the clouds won't really eat me.

...

Yesterday I wrote a really good blog on my phone. It was about stars and it was kinda cutesy and sort of girly, but pretty good all the same. Today I have the overwhelming urge to delete said blog because the world hates me and I hate it back. Maybe I'll post it when I'm in a better mood, or when the world feels like making peace with me again. It probably won't happen soon, so don't hold your breath.

Just thought I'd let all two of you know.

Things I've learned from College: A series of comments

7. Never get attached to your schedule until you actually get into the classes. Stupid registration.

8. Its not worth it to stay up till midnight to try and get into classes that are full. Stupid registration.

9. Ask a Senior to sign up for the classes you want, and then simultaneously have them drop the class while you add it when you can finally register at the end of the week. Stupid registration.

10. Registration is stupid.

Dear Josh,

So, since you recently discovered that I write a blog I decided to write you.

Tonight I went to a performance. This performance was the African Children's Choir. Needless to say I thought of you for the better part of the performance. These kids are with an organization called "Music for Life", with this they are singing to better their African Nations. They travel all over the world dancing and singing to raise money for their fellow students to continue going to school to better their lives. The mission statement of the African Children's Choir is "Helping Africa's most vulnerable children today, so they can help Africa tomorrow". I wished so many times that you could have been there to watch these amazing children showcase their amazing heritage. These kids between the ages of eight to eleven are making an enormous difference in the lives of literally thousands. The reason I thought of you was because you have done the same. It might not have been on such a grand scale, and it may not have been around the world, but you have made a difference- and not in just the lives of those precious vulnerable children.

On a less gushing note, you would have aslo loved the dancing. I remember you talking about the boys that totally kicked your butt at dancing. It reminds me of the Ben Folds song Zak and Sara "Visions of pills that put you in a loving trance that make it possible for all white boys to dance". I'm sorry to say bud, I really don't think that'll ever happen ;) Maybe someday, with lots of practice, or ya know... the Second Coming. At any rate, maybe someday.

In conclusion, you have changed a lot of lives and will continue to do so. You are also an excellent dancer, just not as excellent as eight year old African children :)

With Love,
Megs

P.S. You can consider this your first unofficial letter from me!

Things I've learned from College: A series of comments

1. Dishes in the sink never go away. Even when you wash them, you turn your back for even the tiniest fraction of a second and there are more in there.

2. Roommates also never go away. This might sound harsh, but its just a fact. I love my roommates, and our oh-so-lovable hobo, but the fact remains they're there. Kinda a two edged sword with this one.

3. Living in a stairwell rocks. I've been to the dorms on campus and they have hallways whereas I live in a stairwell, and let me tell you the stairwell kicks the halls trash.

4. Living in a stairwell with boys also rocks. It just makes life that much more interesting, cause no offense to my own gender, but I dunno how BYU students do it- I could not live in an entire building full of girls. The end result would inevitably be death. For whom or by whom would depend.

5. Reading, for any length of time, will always be interrupted. No matter what it is you're reading, whether you're trying to slosh your way through psychology, or you just picked up Brisingr- you will always be interrupted in one form or another.

6. Most of the food at college is not so great...

To be continued...

Chapstick

I feel like I should write an ode to chapstick, but I'm not that talented of a writer so I'll just ramble about chapstick.

Chapstick is amazing. It's especially good when it hits below forty degrees (which it has by the way in Logan for the past week). What is not so great about chapstick is when you leave it in your pocket of the jacket you left home last weekend and then you have to go out and buy a brand new tube of it just so you don't go insane. At the same time it's almost worth it cause Aggie Chapstick is so brilliantly awesome. I think they design it just so you'll lose it halfway through the tube and then have to buy more cause you're hooked. Anyone that knows me fairly well, or lives with me... or I guess if you've just seen me put on chapstick you can understand my love for it. Kirena told me that if she wanted to torture me she would chain me to the wall with a tube of chapstick just out of reach of my lips- and truly this would be the worst torture ever. So in conclusion, chapstick rules. Buy it, use it, smell it, taste it.

Amazing.

Bipolar?

So I've come to the conclusion that I could possibly be bipolar. This isn't the best thing to come to the realization of, but I can imagine that a lot of people think they may be insane at one time in their lives. I think I can attribute this partially to lack of sleep (so I guess lack of sleep makes me poetic and bipolar, I think it works). I could be laughing histerically about something one minute, then ready to cry my eyes out the next. My conclusion in these findings is that I think the human race is- as a whole- bipolar to some degree. Or maybe a bit more broad on that subject, the human race is insane.

So in my discovery of my Bipolarity I have also discovered that I am completely normal in the niche of the human race. However, it could just be the female population of humanity. Either way, I'm just a normal insane person too!

A moment of sheer girlyness- Pink, Fluffy and Frilly

So last week my roommates and I were bored and decided to look up songs on YouTube. Of course we chose all the sappy girl songs- Out of My League by Stephen Speaks, Luckiest by Ben Folds- those types of songs. Then a young man from across the hall came over to play and suggested a song. This song was Love Story by Taylor Swift. Oh my goodness. Every girl wants this. Well, in my opinion anyway. And the fact that it was a boy that introduced us to this song gave said boy about a million brownie points- good work Branden :). Anyway, this is just an adorable song. This is my moment of being just a girl.

He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said,
"Marry me, Juliet - you'll never have to be alone.
I love you and that's all I really know.
I talked to your dad - go pick out a white dress;
It's a love story - baby just say 'Yes.'"

Yes.

Angst

The dictionary definition of angst is 'a feeling of dread, anxiety, or anguish'. Apparently its the German word for 'fear'. I think I am diagnosing myself with Half-Way-Through-My-First-Semester-Of-College-Dont-Know-What-To-Do-With-My-Life-College-Angst. Yay.

Chills

Do you ever get the chills when you're not really cold? They start right at the very core of you and work their way out and around? I get them all the time. Especially right now. I will argue with any person on the face of this earth who says that miracles have ceased. The end.

English Majors Part Two

So, once again just got out of my English Literature class. I've decided poetry brings out the very worst in everyone. Thats definitely not how it should be, but inevitably it is. Poetry can be taken so many different ways that everyone feels the overwhelming need to prove that the way they view it is the absolute, end-all way of perceiving that poem. Shouldn't it teach us to be more open minded? To look at things through a more broad perspective, walk a mile in someone elses shoes, that sort of thing? It doesn't though, and to me thats sad. So this is my note to everyone. Learn to look at things from a different perspective, open your eyes and stop arguing.

Bottom Line, dont be an English Major.

Aw suck.

Petulant #2

So, I found the cure for petulance. When you feel like a five year old the only thing to do is act like a five year old. Last Friday (the 17th) I got up early, got dressed, didn't wake up any of my roommates and went outside. It was, of course, freezing, but I walked around for about two hours. You might be asking yourself "How does this have anything to do with acting like a five year old?". Well on this walk I found a park. At this park I found a swing.

The cure for petulance is swinging on a swing till your face is numb and your hands are frozen to the chains. I thought I would tell you all about this because it was an excellent remedy for all my restlessness. Maybe one day when you just don't know what to do with yourself, you can think of this and find a park, and in that park find a swing. Good luck.

P.S. I just found out how to follow other peoples blogs, so I am pretty much following everyone now. Don't think I'm creepy, but half the fun of blogging is reading other peoples blogs. I have to thank Brooke for that :)

Petulant

So, today I have really truely discovered the meaning of petulance. The dictionary definition of 'petulant' is moved to or showing sudden, impatient irritation, especially over some trifling annoyances. This is unbelievably true. I am so restless and bored. I've turned to so many different things. Books, my number one default entertainment has failed miserably tonight at even sparking my interest. I cooked myself dinner even- it wasn't that great. I have never felt like a five year old as much as I have today. I quadruple checked to see if I really didn't have a speck of homework to do, and then finally I turned to the internet. At this time I would like to publicly announce my gratitude towards a Mr. Nathan Bagley. His blog has been my entertainment for the past THREE HOURS and I kid you not. So I just wanted to thank him for all of his anecdotes and hilarious use of words and just the fact that his life is funny. I don't think I've ever actually been introduced to Nathan, but his youngest brother Joshua is one of my best friends (and I really enjoyed the post about Josh, it was so true). If it hadn't been for his posts about Twilight and Movies of the summer that he's not excited to see I would probably be dead on the floor of my apartment. Death by boredom, or petulance, whichever. So thank you, you probably wont see this but I am eternally grateful. The end.

Nothingness

You'd think after two months of being in college that I would learn how to entertain myself, and yet here I am... writing more random nothingness. I've decided that getting a blog was probably a bad thing for me cause now whenever I can't find something to do my default entertainment is my blog and I end up writing about absolutely nothing. So today thats what I'm writing about, nothing. I'm hoping this will turn out well, like Seinfeld, which in essence is a show about nothing. So here is my attempt at being as cool as Jerry Seinfeld. Maybe not as funny, but hopefully entertaining... ish.
Dancing is the best, especially if its someone elses sweet awesome moves you're watching. There are a couple people that have just touched my life forever because of their amazing dancing abilities. The first would be Kirena Allen. I've recently decided that I've wasted six years of my life knowing who Kirena is, but not being her friend, and I'm so glad I'm not wasting useless time with not being her friend, haha :). The next would have to be Marc Ortega. Hopefully soon there will be a video on facebook of his unparalelled dancing abilities and you will see how much it has impacted my life, and how much it could touch your life as well.
Music is also the best; except, however, when you are sitting in a choir class and the teacher asks one of the sopranos to stop singing and then all of a sudden the entire choir goes into tune, how sad huh?

Just Cause

So right now I just feel like writing. I don't know what about in particular, but I just want to. Maybe I can start off with how my week went and then I can get my thoughts in order (I highly doubt that will really happen... but thats ok I guess). This week has been interesting. Have you ever had so many different feelings all at once that you just don't know what to do with any of them? Well I surely have for the past couple days. I have felt overwhelming compassion, frustration, that butterfly feeling you get in the pit of your stomach, drowsiness, freezing, love, sadness, nostalgia, anger, more compassion, longing, empathy, sympathy, confusion along with more frustration, that feeling you get when you know you caused someone else pain, more compassion, a little more anger, and even hate. From that sentence you can see that this has been quite the week and I'm not sure what to make of it. I'm not expecting anyone else to make anything of it either, but I think writing all of these emotions down help me pick out the ones I want to think about. The majority of my brain has been occupied by that butterfly feeling you get in the pit of your stomach. I have also recently decided that college is exactly like middle school, no matter what anyone else tells you. College is basically the same as middle school. If you ask me in person why I think that, I might explain it to you, operative word being might. After that emotion next in line would have to be longing, but I don't know if thats the right word. This emotion comes because I just miss my papa, he is currently in Texas on business and I finally talked to him yesterday and realized how much I miss him and how long its been since I've seen him- like six weeks. Now I know that to most people this information holds little to no value to their life; however, while experiencing all of these emotions I have been able to figure a few things out (things that I've been told a million times of course, but never listened to). Keeping your room clean is a pretty important thing. It keeps you sane. Yes, I sound like a mother I know, but its really true. Next is that having good friends and a support system is pretty vital as well. These two things will make you happy (which is my goal for college). So far the recipe for happiness is long and somewhat confusing for me. You think one thing is going to make you happy but eventually it just causes frustration. Sigh... too much gushing on my part. And this is the end of my writing just cause.

Sleep deprivation equals increased poetic ablities? Or stupidity, one of the two.

So... This past weekend/ the beginning of this week has been one of an extreme plummit of sleep for myself. Its been an interesting experience. At the same time as being unbelievably uncoordinated and thinking the stupidest things of my life, I haven't ever written down so many things that I think to be poetic. I don't think I'll share most of those with you, but still, it has greatly surprised me. I've come to the conclusion that if I'm ever in need of poetic stimuli I will just not sleep for a couple days and then see what comes. I feel like I should just write down a couple of the quotes derived from this week of sleep deprivation.

"This paper is amazing, how did you write it so well?" "I just didnt sleep for five days."

"I can't remember that girls name. Or if she has a name... What?? Everyone has a brain!"

"The grave place..."

Those are the only onesI can remember right now. I'm one hundred percent sure there are more. I just thought I would share a bit of my sillyness, thats always fun isn't it? Haha, the answer is yes.

Boredom...

Ok so I realize that this is my third post in one day, but I am extremely bored. So with my boredom I was reading over a paper I wrote for my Creative Arts class. This post is mostly for Kirena Allen, who would know what I am talking about for the majority of the paper. I hope it can express how much I disliked this particular performance.

Please stay in East Village Monsieur Opera Company
If I were to write strictly upon how the music made me feel this paper would be pleasant from start to finish; however, I was not only compelled to listen to this interesting music, but I was forced to witness the performance of the two lead singers. Both AnnMarie Milazzo and Tyley Ross are amazingly talented singers, I have taken choir classes long enough to recognize the fact that they can sing in an operatic style. I was grateful for the sound quality, but it was not enough to make up for the awkward and somewhat unsophisticated way in which they actually presented the songs. I can attribute this more towards the female vocalist than to Mr. Ross. The way she dance was like sandpaper to my eyes, I could not look at her for the majority of her songs. This aspect detracted greatly from experiencing the fullness of the music.
To focus more directly on the music I can begin by saying that it was enjoyable. I use such a light and un-attached word because that’s how it made me feel. Many of the songs did not portray the zeal and exhilaration that a real opera would depict. They tried very hard to keep the passion with the songs, but in the attempt I believe they failed miserably. There was one song that touched upon this infatuation for the music, and it was the piece derived from Rigaletto. During this number, as I stared at my shoes, I could hear in the music that longing and love that seemed to be missing throughout the rest of the performance. The other songs were seriously inhibited by the choice of movements by either of the lead singers. I was thrilled to see them at times step down and witness the violin perform with such grace and eloquence in comparison to the fairly crass and harsh movements of Ms. Milazzo.
In conclusion I would have to say that it was a relatively enjoyable and a nice performance. I cannot say that the music moved me in any way. I will say the actual performing part moved me to the exit faster than usual, but the music for me was nothing particularly special or pleasurable. I did enjoy a select few of their pieces and felt that they do try to make it the similar to an actual opera, but in their attempt to ‘rock it up’ they miss the sensations of an opera. So The East Village Opera Company, in my own humble opinion was nothing special and fell a bit short of expectation. The light show was pretty remarkable though

Jack Johnson

Has just cured my annoyance from English. The question is still posed though.

English Majors...

So today in my English Lit class we were discussing poetry, which ya know, I think is pretty good. I like poetry, I like reading poems, writing them, and even singing them. Today, however, was like a suicide bombing of opinionated english buffs. The poem was "The Last Duchess" and the entire class consisted of about three girls arguing about how they perceived this poem. And they would not even budge or give any credit to the other persons opinion. The only way we could really know who the Duke was or if he killed the last duchess would be if we brought Robert Browning back from the dead and asked him. But these three girls felt that they knew better. I was a bit annoyed, and curious to know if I am that opininated. This of course led me to more self-reflective activity and thought that I would ask the general public. Am I as opinionated as these girls? I thought that because they are English Majors, or I assume they are, and if they're not they are super into English, and I'm an English Major. So do I follow this little trend of opinionated English buffs? I am genuinely asking this question and I would like to know what you think :)

Love comes from even the tiniest places

So, I'm sitting here at my sisters house babysitting her kids. Her three amazing, beautiful kids. My newest nephew, Lucas, holds an extremely special place in my heart. Looking into this precious four month old, steel-blue not-sure-what-color-they're-going-to-be-yet eyes my heart melts. I know its been said a hundred thousand times, but my heart just melts for this little piece of Heaven. There is no other way to describe these little spirits. I love them so much. A babies smile is worth the strongest kind of love, and they give it freely. As his eyes slowly shut I know that Heaven could not be closer than this little boy. We are all blessed with these beautiful beings and should all cherish them deeply.

Life is sticky life's a mess sometimes a curse sometimes a blessing

Oh wow... this has been a most interesting couple of weeks to say the least. I don't think I've ever done more pondering and just deep thinking than I have in the past three weeks. These past weeks have been the best of the worst as I come to label them.

Life is an interesting turn of events. It doesn't just have interesting turns of events, life IS an interesting turn of events. I would go into great detail, but then I might as well put my journal on here, but I dont think I seriously want to do that. But I will share what I have come to conclude.

In life, you will know when you are in the right place and the right time doing the right things, and let me tell you now- that is the most amazing feeling in life. I know I'm where I am for all the right reasons, I cant say that it lasted very long, but even for just a moment it is an amazing feeling.

Another thing that I've learned is that it is good to be compassionate and loving; however, it is bad to put someone elses happiness above your own for extended periods of time- especially if you are not receiving compassion and love in return.

With this discovery I've found that doing things that make you happy are the best. Even silly things. Singing at the top of your lungs out the window of the top floor of your apartment, throwing water out the window of the top floor of the apartment onto your roommate, and laughing so hard you cry are some things I would suggest :) Being happy is essential, and its a hard thing.

I have a new found respect for those people that you know that are consistantly happy, the ones that bug you cause they're so happy all the time, you know? Its incredibly difficult to be happy, it really is a fight! I've decided recently to fight for my happiness. That happiness that comes through the silly things in life, the beautiful things in life and above all else the sacred things of life. These are the things that can bring you happiness. To have your happiness depend on just one thing, or more specifically one mortal person is so dangerous and will ultimately lead to unhappiness. Make happiness of everything. Ok, I'll end this paragraph before I just start gushing (or continue gushing...)

These are the kind of conclusions I have come to in the past weeks. Nothing extremely ground breaking for the world as a whole, but in my own small world it has meant a lot.

However, even with these lovely discoveries, I am still performing open heart surgery on myself. Cracking my ribs and sifting around my heart to make the pain subside.

Three Days Smashed into One

Ok so this weekend honestly felt like just one really long day. It started out on Friday with classes as usual. Then I had to run back to my apartment so I could catch a ride with Karissa's brother AJ to Bear Lake cause all my roommates left me cause I'm the late one. So that was an adventure. Then there was Bear Lake.

Bear Lake was so much fun. It started out with one of those papers thats like "find someone with the same color toothbrush you have, someone with the same number of siblings as you..." and so on, so that was quite the riot what with the 6 Nates in our ward and at least 3 Megans. Then we ate dinner, which was amazing Broccoli Cheese Soup that made me think of home. After dinner we had the after dinner random games. The one that sticks out the most is a game that can only be named "Mingle". This is where you have everyone in a kind of mosh pit and at any random time the leader of the game calls out a number and you have to get that many people in a group. Needless to say the guys were pretty dominate in this game. Especially Scott who has very long limbs, one second you'd be bouncing around saying "Mingle Mingle Mingle" and the next second you are just squished inbetween two or three guys, depending on the number called out. Then as these games died down it was getting closer to nine-ish and thats when our Bishop was giving his little devotional. The devotional was good, more about the Bishop wanted everyone to get married and stuff about hunting... yadda yadda, but it was good all the same. Then they pull out the big guns on us. Speed Dating, thats not how they termed it, but in essence thats what it really was. I only had one thought in my head at that point and it was this: RUN! RUN! Haha, but it wasn't super bad... I talked to about 6 or 7 really nice guys (the majority of them hating my major, but I guess I wont hold that against them). And then we played other date promoting games such as missionary tag and the one game where you're in a circle and you grab everyones hand and then try to unravel yourselves... forgot what its called, but yeah those types of games. An then, it was time for the Plunge! This means that at exactly 12:00 Midnight we run and jump head first into the Bear Lake. Probably one of the stupidest things in the entire world, and yet somehow completely worth it. I couldnt feel the entirety of my body and yet, it was hilarious and scary and adrenaline pumping and all that jazz. So after "The Plunge" we went back to the little inn we were staying at and crammed 57 people into a hot tub where the maximum capacity was 10, yeah... another interesting moment. After a while we lost quite a few people and the ones left played telephone and Mafia. Next we all got dried and into pajamas, but that wasn't the end of the night, or morning I forget what time it really was. We then proceded to eat our own body weights in popcorn and candy. Then we had people sliding down the stairs in sleeping bags and on matresses, and by the end of all this I was somehow left on the hardwood floor to sleep while my friends went upstairs (they claim that when asked I just said "No, I'm going to sleep right here" but I have no memory of saying this). Sometime during the night I moved to the little couch and was woken up by Kyler laughing at me cause I looked so uncomfortable. Then I moved upstairs finally and fell asleep for a little longer. Breakfast was excellent and it didn't hurt that they let the ladies go first, our ward is just full of gentleman :). Then it was home again.
At this point I was hoping to say hello to Chase's family who was coming up for a little bit and say hi and then quickly fall asleep after that, but it didn't happen like that. I waited forever and finally after like three hours they came bearing peaches (meanwhile Joshua Bagley and his brother Jason had joined us, which as always was a riot). Then my roommies, Josh and I went to the football game, that we lost... but it was fun all the same. Went back to the apartment where we were at a loss of what to do so we watch A Walk To Remember ( Josh's idea :)). Then the guys left at about 2 in the morning and I quickly fell alseep dreading my talk at 9:30 the next morning. My talk, however, went very well. I didnt fall asleep during it which was what I was going for. Then we came home, I made spaghetti for the guests and then they left and I promptly fell asleep cause I had been severely lacking that part of life for what seemed like forever. And now, here I am on Wednesday relaying all this useless information to my avid readers. Hahaha I hope you enjoyed this, it was fun to write :)

Introduction to my new life!

Ok, so thanks to a miss Brooke Austin I have been introduced to the splendid world of blogging! I'm pretty excited for this actually, you can all hear (and or read I guess) all about my wonderful life here in the land of Logan Utah. I have been at Utah State University for four whole weeks now and it has been quite the change. After a horrible week of homesickness and panic attacks, I think I am finally settled into my apartment and loving each of my class. Ok, maybe not each of them, but the majority of them are great (by the majority I mean my English class, and Institute hehe). Anyway I hope I can keep you all entertained! Read if you want, and if you dont want to then well you can just go on your merry way. I wont try to tell you about my adventures in detail thus far, but I can try to sum them up shortly. Hmmm... I rode a mechanical bull for the first time, am freaked out by all the people living in my apartment cause they're way older than me (no offense if any of you are reading this, haha). I got my first dose of relief society and lots of fun from ward family home evenings :). I am really excited for this weekend, my ward is going to Bear Lake! So maybe by Saturday (if I'm not dead) I will have some more fun stories to enthral you with. Keep reading! Woot ;)
