I'd Rather Be Blogging...

So I am. Instead of doing homework.

Have you ever felt just little disjointed? Like things are just slightly off, but only enough to be barely recognizable, therefore enough to drive one crazy?

I think I've felt like that lately. It's very obnoxious.

In other news, I'm sitting in the library, slightly frozen, listening to pandora (which hasn't been doing the greatest job at finding songs that I really want to listen to...) I have a paper due at 9:30 tomorrow morning and I have the smallest paragraph that has my thesis... but all in all it's already crappy. I don't want to be at the library. I thought it would be such a good idea. It wasn't.

I'm going home.

I Write Lists...

Because I like crossing things off said list. However, on my blog I like to write lists for apparently no reason at all. So, here we go!

WHY is it that hindsight is 20/20? Why couldn't foresight be 20/20? I hate looking back at things and knowing exactly what I should have done. This has been bugging me a lot lately (and by "lately" I mean predominately for the past two years).

In relation to this, I wish I could know what was going to be discussed in my classes. Most of the time it's interesting and insightful in the majority of my classes, but today one of my class discussions revolved around violent video games and everything that that brings out argument-wise. Definitely a class I could have skipped (mostly because I've had that discussion ten billion times in various psychology classes).

I dislike writing a paper, re-writing said paper, revising paper, and repeating only to find myself staring at a paper that I positively hate and the only thing I can do about it is turn it in and hope for the best.

Today I bought a watch. I can't decide if I like it or not.

Working + School = Very Little time for anything except work and school. Who woulda thunk it? (Just as a side note- the word "thunk" does not have a red squiggly line underneath it... is that a real word? Or the right conjugation of the word "think?")

I just looked up the word "thunk," which is a word defined as an abrupt, dull sound. So yes and no. It is a word, however it is not the proper conjugation of the word "think"- the proper conjugation would in fact be "thought."

I feel like I had more to write about, but I can't remember (even with writing what I wanted to put on this blog post...) Oh well. I hope you enjoyed!

Dear Halloween,

When I was younger you and I were pals. I always had a fantastic costume (thanks to a fantastic mother who made them year after year) I had siblings or friends to go trick-or-treating with (and the option to do so without feeling completely dumb or looking like a creeper) and of course the free candy that always came from said trick-or-treating adventures.

Nowadays those times are pretty much over, except for the costumes that I have swiped from home, the warm and fuzzy feelings you and I once shared have in a nutshell disappeared entirely. This makes me sad. I feel like I've lost a very important moment from my life from not experiencing Halloween like I used to.

I think next year I will go home just for you and have a grand time with my family.

I think I should have learned this from my first Halloween in Logan (which was probably the lamest most uneventful holiday of my life- my roommate and I played blockus the entire night...)

For the Life of Me...

I cannot concentrate! My sister gets home on Tuesday. I start a new job on Monday. I'm skipping out on school all next week and I can't seem to focus on the homework that I really need to do. It's frustrating me, but at the same time I just can't bring myself to focus.

So here I am... on the internet. All I really need to do is read a couple things for a paper I need to start (and by a couple things I mean two twenty page Literary Critical Analysis about a piece of African Literature... No big deal right?) and then the paper is only 3-4 pages yeah? I'm probably going to die, but I'm so freaking excited for my sister to come home, and to be able to have a job! GAH! Anyway, I thought I'd share. Now that I've gotten that out of my system, perhaps I can get something done. Probably not. Shoot.

Missionaries!

First, I wanted to keep a little tradition alive. When all of my guy friends left on their missions I wrote them a little something on my blog and I certainly don't want to leave out my favorite person to blog stalk :)

Merrit! I don't think you realize what an amazing example you've been- even just through your blog. I love your words and I'm thrilled that I will be able to continue blog stalking you and your adventures. I can't really guarantee a ton of letters, BUT I will promise prayers. I know you will have the very time of your life. You are amazing! :D I just thought I'd let you know before you shipped off across the world.

In other news....

My sister, Soeur Mindy Anne Leavitt will be home in EIGHT DAYS. I think every time I've talked to my mom she's told me the number on the countdown and I just can't quite wrap my head around it. This is pretty much the greatest ever :D

I Write Stuff on My Phone...

And then forget to put it on my blog. So here's a list of stuff I've written down on my cellular device. (Sorry if these are random... haha welcome to my life).

Repentance isn't a lamb going to the slaughter (even though it may feel like that). It's the sheep finding their way back to the shepherd.

Why are Utah State Aggies blue? It's because we live in Logan and we're always so freaking cold.

Things have stopped 'reminding' me of you. I no longer need a reminder. You're simply always there; seated in my mind and housed in my heart.

I don't need to know what is coming, I just need to know if I'm on the right path to get there. (This made me think of Hymn #97 "I do not ask to see the distant scene-- one step enough for me").

Je suis revenu.

Heavenly Father is just waiting to teach us how to make something as powerful and spectacular as lightning, and something as gentle and fantastic as a rainbow. (I remember writing this after watching lightning at my house for like an hour with my little brother. There were a lot of storms this summer in South Jordan and I was able to see some breathtaking lightning displays, and quite a few huge rainbows... the result was this little blurb in my phone).

Considering it is Sunday I thought most of these were fairly appropriate. I hope you all have (or had as the case may be) a beautiful sabbath.

Till Kingdom Come

I've had this song stuck in my head all day. I couldn't tell you why, but it's an exceptional song. In fact, I really love it. The lyrics, the melody, all of it. It's beautiful. This is how I feel.

Til Kingdom Come
by Coldplay

Steal my heart and hold my tongue
I feel my time
My time has come
Let me in
Unlock the door
I never felt this way before

And the wheels just keeps on turning
The drummer begins to drum
I don’t know which way I’m going
I don’t know which way I’ve come

Hold my head inside your hands
I need someone who understands
I need someone, someone who hears
For you I’ve waited all these years

For you I’d wait 'til kingdom come
Until my day, my day is done
And say you'll come and set me free
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me

In your tears and in your blood
In your fire and in your flood
I hear you laugh, I heard you sing
I wouldn’t change a single thing
And the wheels just keep on turning
The drummers begin to drum
I don’t know which way I’m going
I don’t know what I’ve become

For you I’d wait 'til kingdom come
Until my days, my days are done
And say you'll come and set me free
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me
